Universal Structural Test System
Summary: A major airframe manufacturer needed a standardized system that could address most of their current and foreseeable test requirements. Strain-gage signal conditioning and 10 ks/s data rates are required. |
This universal structural test system will initially provide a realistic test environment for critical components of helicopter airframes, rotational components, controls, and load bearing assemblies. Through this testing the user will determine realistic life expectancies of critical components. This will help to define replacement intervals and also improve current structural designs. Each system consists of a PC host running Windows NT, a MXI II interface and a VXI chassis. The VXI I/O for each system provides 8 digital servo control channels (an Alphi Technology product), 32 strain inputs, 64 ADC channels for general use, 16 digital I/O channels for controlling discrete elements and 2 analog output channels.
The primary KineticSystems products used in this application are:
- V213 32 or 64-channel Scanning ADC
- V710 Signal Conditioning Termination Panel for the SC21
- SC21 Bridge Signal Conditioner with Programmable Gain and Filtering
The software for this system is being developed by a third party. The requirements are quite extensive due to the number and different types of applications the systems must address. The systems must be able to operate standalone or connected to a network.
