KineticSystems Acquires Preston Scientific of California

Lockport, Illinois ( May 1, 2002) - KineticSystems Company, LLC, a leading designer and manufacturer of data acquisition and control products, announced today it has completed a transaction to acquire the assets of Preston Scientific, headquartered in Anaheim, California. KineticSystems has also assumed the global rights to manufacture and distribute Cyber Systems products, previously licensed to Preston Scientific. Preston Scientific and the Cyber Systems product lines will increase KineticSystems' offerings of turnkey data acquisition hardware and software solutions, especially to the aerospace, automotive, defense and petrochemical markets. All companies involved in the transaction are privately held.

KineticSystems, popular over the last 30 years for its wide array of standardized high performance VXI and CAMAC modular products, has recently introduced more PC-based data acquisition products for in-vehicle or portable production line testing. The Preston Scientific product line will add a wide range of analog input channel amplifiers, filters, multiplexers, digital I/O interfaces and complete Analog-to-Digital conversion systems, such as the PreSys 1000. From Cyber Systems, KineticSystems will gain the FM7000 Load Control System for structural testing, DM 7000 Data Acquisition System and the PC-based Versaplex 2000NT Data Acquisition System, among other products.

According to a company spokesman, KineticSystems will maintain the Preston Scientific facility in Anaheim, California, and have it serve as KineticSystems' West Coast engineering, service and sales support office.
