Recording

Recording can be started in one of two ways:
  1. If you want to look at your realtime data before recording it, press the StartData button to start data collection. When RUNNING, press the Record button (circled left in red).
  2. If you do not need to preview your data, just press the Record button (circled left in red). If DynaDAQ is not already RUNNING, DynaDAQ will start the collection startup process. As soon as DynaDAQ goes into run mode, it will also start recording data.

When recording is started, the "StartRecord" button (circled above in red) will change to a "StopRecord" button (circled left in red). Also notice that "RUNNING-RECORDING" will be displayed in the message window (circled left in blue).

In the folder where DynaDAQ is installed, you will find a "Data" subfolder. All DynaDAQ data files are stored in this folder. The default data filename is called "dynadaq.bin". To change the default filename, refer to "Where is my data stored?".

While recording, the "Record Time Remaining" window (circled above in blue) will display the amount of record time remaining on the disk. By pressing the "<-" button, the display will toggle to "Record Time Elapsed" and will display how long DynaDAQ has been recording.

To STOP Recording, press the "StopRecord" button (circled left in red). DynaDAQ will stop recording but will continue collecting data.

Regular Mode

When DynaDAQ runs at 3.2MB/s or less, DynaDAQ is in RegularMode. In this mode, DynaDAQ performs optimizations on the realtime data while recording. These optimizations allow the DynaDAQ Viewer to graph the data file very quickly. For example, if data was recorded for 30 minutes at 3.2MB/s, then the data file size would be 5.76GB. With optimizations the file would be loaded in about 13 seconds.

NOTE: If DynaDAQ is currently in EnhancedMode (6.4MB/s) and you change to RegularMode (3.2MB/s or less), the following message box will appear:

Enhanced Mode

Enhanced mode is a feature in which DynaDAQ runs at 6.4MB/s. In this mode, DynaDAQ does not perform optimizations. Without optimizations, the same 5.76GB data file would load in about 10 minutes. With the Enhanced mode, you gain realtime speed at the expense of post processing time.

NOTE: If DynaDAQ is currently in RegularMode (3.2MB/s or less) and you change to EnhancedMode (6.4MB/s), the following message box will appear:

While in EnhancedMode, the Enhanced checkbox will appear (as shown below in red).
